UK Grows Weed | Where?!
British Sugar was one of a handful given license to grow cannabis. Licenses issued by the UK government directly and purely to supply GW pharmaceuticals only.
They do not yet offer their extracts to regular folk in the UK, but this is likely to change next year. Much of this cannabis is exported, with some being used by pharma companies based in the UK. The medical cannabis is then used to make MS drug Sativex, epilepsy drug Epidiolex and Nabilone to ease pain and nausea in patients having chemotherapy.
It is important to note that these cannabis plants will include a high level of CBD as well as THC so not as potent as high THC weed.
Yet it is cannabis none the less.

This followed months of pressure from patients and families who had been previously denied access to cannabis derived products. The framework set out by the UK government states that when there is clear evidence of its benefits Medical cannabis can be prescribed. It goes on further to state that when all other treatment options have been explored and exhausted.

Children with rare forms of epilepsy
Adults with acute vomiting and nausea caused by chemotherapy

The UK PM once claimed she ran through fields of wheat, in a few years time it could well be fields of weed...
GW Pharmaceuticals is one of the industry giants, which uses the UK's medical cannabis to make their medicinal cannabis products.
It seems that our very own Prime minister Theresa May has a green finger or two! Mrs May's husband Phillip's company is one of GW's biggest investors.
Good times will be had!
Fear not the fun doesn't stop here, drugs Minister Victoria Atkin's husband is the managing director of British Sugar. They grow tonnes of high CBD cannabis and hemp, for GW Pharmaceuticals.
So at least someone will have a bulging bank account from the growth and sale of cannabis. An activity that would see us locked up, the hypocrisy is obscene.
So then, It is probably purely coincidental that just days after the Home Secretary revised the government's position on medical cannabis, GW had been granted FDA approval for their own cannabis-derived medicine Epidiolex.
